Elizabeth Orlando, of New Lenox, passed away on February 11, 2026 at the age of 102.
Betty was born in Colorado in 1923 to Louis Floryancic and Anna (Koshak) Floryancic. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, and three brothers. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, William F. Hurley, to whom she was married for 14 years, and Michael A. Orlando, to whom she was married for 10 years.
Betty is survived by her nieces, Margaret Price, Carole Bryant, and Karen Bell; her nephew, Jack Costello; her stepdaughter Luann (John) DiMonte; her step-grandchildren, Johnny (Melissa), Daniel and Deanna; and step-great grandchild Donatello.
Betty enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, quilting and baking. At one time, her entire backyard was a garden. She found joy in growing her own vegetables and loved sharing them with family and friends. She was also known for the cookies, candies, dinner rolls and sticky buns she lovingly made for those around her.
Betty was a strong and independent woman who lived life on her own terms. She took pride in building a life for herself during a time when women were often discouraged from doing so. She lived independently, generously and with determination throughout her long life.
In keeping with her wishes, Betty will be donating her body to science.
