Edward E. Szachnit

Age 79, of Frankfort, passed away Friday, August 28th, 2026 at the Manteno Veteran’s Home in Manteno.

Ed is survived by his loving family, wife, Lorna Szachnit (Reily), children, Sara (Tim) Irvine, Julie (Michael) O’Neill, sibling, Shirley Szachnit, grandchildren, Branden (Ashley) O’Neill, Austin Irvine and Jackson Irvine.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Julia Szachnit (Gnat), step-mother, Agnes Szachnit (Gnat), first wife, Eunice Szachnit (Krystozek) and son Paul Szachnit.

Ed was a United States Army Veteran and member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Frankfort. He retired from AT&T and then retired again from Lucent Technologies. Edward was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycles, biking, ATV riding and just being outdoors. He was also a Lionel Train enthusiast and collector.

Family will receive friends at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 7659 W. Sauk Trail, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Friday, September 11th, 2026 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
