Doris L. Wright (nee Van Hessen)
Doris Louise Wright, resident of Mokena and formerly from Crete, IL, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 7, 2016. Doris loved cookies, cherry pie and black licorice, doing crafts, traveling, making lists, solving crossword puzzles, watching the Blackhawks and NCAA college basketball, spending time with friends and family, playing games – especially with her grandchildren, and laughing until she cried. Although, not necessarily in that order. She hated hypocrites and lines drawn without a ruler. Doris had a genuine curiosity about anything and everything, whether you were having a conversation with her or visiting a museum, and as such asked many questions and always listened intently.
Doris is the beloved wife of Larry Wright; loving mother of Loreen Brown and Colette (Eric) Asmussen; cherished grandmother to Lucas, Jacob and Lucy Brown and Morgan and Lindsey Asmussen; dear sister of Charles (Janice) Van Hessen III; and survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive visitors at Kurtz Memorial Chapel (65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423) on Sunday, October 30th beginning at 12pm with a memorial service at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society (www.donate.cancer.org). For more info, please visit www.kurtzmemorialchapel.com or call (815)806-2225.
