Don was born in Chicago, IL to the late Sophie (nee Kasmauskas) and the late Joseph Kirk.

Beloved husband of Geraldine “Geri” (nee Dawczak) Kirkilas; loving father of Carol (Jerome) Smurawski, David Kirkilas, and Gary (Josephine Pulido) Kirkilas; cherished grandfather of Vanessa Smurawski, Andrew (Megan Hammann) Smurawski, Kyle Kirkilas, Kaitlin Kirkilas, Trevor Kirkilas, and Hailey Kirkilas; proud great grandfather of Maci, Carson, Lily, and Finn; dear brother of Richard (late Sharon) Kirkilas, the late Joseph “Tom” (Beverly) Kirkilas, and the late Dennis (late Rosemary) Kirkilas; loved uncle, cousin and friend of many.

Don retired from the CTA where he was a mechanic and was a proud US Army veteran. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, tending to his Koi pond and aquarium and loved cooking for his family.
