Donald J. Rich

Donald J. Rich, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home on November 8, 2021.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joanne (nee Walzner) Rich; sons, Michael (Cindy) Rich, David (Jessica) Rich, and Christopher Rich; step-daughter Kymberly (Todd) Tincher; brother Anthony (Late Mary Anne) Rich; sister Joanne (Charles) Pady; ten wonderful grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and his beloved companion Bogart.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Anna (nee Samash) Rich; and his brother Michael Rich.

Formerly of Chicago and Oak Forest, Donald moved to New Lenox with his family in 1974. Donald was a machinist and loved working with his hands. He worked for Electro-Motive for 30 years before his retirement. In his spare time, he loved to ride his Harley-Davidson, and tinker with his cars or motorcycles. He also was very proficient in wood working and he could build anything he put his mind to. Donald was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union and also a parishioner of Saint Jude Catholic Church in New Lenox.

Services for Donald will begin on Saturday, November 13th, 2021 with a memorial visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, from 12pm-4pm. A memorial service will begin at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Apex Hospice or any charity of your choice in Don’s name would be appreciated.
