Donald C. Skafgaard Ii

Donald C. Skafgaard II, age 67, died on June 11, 2023 from a yearlong battle with cancer. His family surrounded him with love in his last days. He is survived by his wife Annette Skafgaard, daughter Stephanie Skafgaard, mother Helen Skafgaard, sister Donna Galvan (Andy), brother Jerry Skafgaard, sister-in-laws Janice Fryklund (Greg) and Nancy Winder, brother-in-laws Michael Delnegro (Joanne), Jimmy Delnegro (Theresa) nieces and nephews Amy Galvan (Lori), Jody Mattice (Justin), Fred Skafgaard, Natalie Zalweski (Steve), Tyler Skafgaard (Hanna), Lea Skafgaard, Katie Ostrowski (Matt), Sarah Forsythe (Josh), many beloved great nieces and nephews Madison Skafgaard, Steven and Kara Zalweski, Mason and Landon Ostrowski, Josh, Jake, and Luke Forsythe, Kenighan, Galvan and Brance Mattice.

He was preceded in death by his father Donald C. Skafgaard Sr, his brother Fred Skafgaard (Nancy), his Uncle Fred & Aunt Jenny “Beba” Lombardo, and his brother-in-law Tom Winder.

Don retired at the end of 2019 from a 45 year career in the trucking industry. He was an avid hobbyist and spent time building model stock cars from racing teams of current and past generations. Don loved the races and attended NASCAR and Indy racing events whenever possible. In his younger years, he raced a stock car at Raceway Park in Chicago and drag raced at US 30 drag strip in Joliet.

Through his life, Don enjoyed many friends and acquaintances and left each and every one of them with a smile on their face. Don was loved by all; he will be truly missed.

Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Friday, June 23rd, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral service, Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
