Dennis A. Schultz

October 9, 1937 — September 13, 2025

Mokena, IL

With heavy hearts, the family of Dennis Anthony Schultz announces his passing on September 13, 2025, at the age of 87, in Homer Glen, Illinois.

Born in Chicago on October 9, 1937, Dennis was the cherished son of late Theodore and Lottie Schultz (née Pancer) and beloved brother to the late Ronald (late Barbara), late Romaine (late Chuck), and Greg (Lenore).

Dennis was a devoted and loving husband to Loretta, his wife of 63 years, and a steady, guiding presence in the lives of their children: Terry (Louanne), Donna (Jim), and Mark (Melissa). He was the proud grandfather of Neil, Matthew, Sarah, Michael (Rachel), David, Cynthia, and Joe (Lauren), and great-grandfather of Perry and Priscilla.

A proud Navy veteran, Dennis served aboard the aircraft carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1959 to 1960 and continued his service in the Naval Reserves until 1963. Following his military service, he built a fulfilling career as a Union Pipefitter, working in the maintenance departments at Campbell’s Soup and Unilever. Known for his dedication, expertise, and relentless work ethic, Dennis took great pride in his career.

Even in retirement, Dennis was rarely still. A tireless tinkerer, he was always working on projects and repairs—often helping his children and friends. He was the one everyone called when something needed fixing, and he never hesitated to lend a hand.

Dennis and Loretta met in 1960 and were married at St. Michael’s Church in Chicago on August 11, 1962. They made their home in Calumet City, where they raised their children and lived for 35 years before moving to Mokena in 1991. For over six decades, they were rarely apart. Their home was the heart of the family—a gathering place for celebrations, milestones, and everyday moments filled with joy and laughter.

As a father, Dennis worked hard to ensure his children had every opportunity to succeed. He valued education and made it a priority, helping each of his children pursue college or technical school, and watching with pride as they built successful careers. He believed in the importance of family dinners, and took his family on many memorable vacations, including Colorado, Florida, Northern Wisconsin, and many more.

Becoming a grandfather brought Dennis immense joy. With his boundless energy, gentle heart, and playful sense of humor, he was a constant and loving presence in his grandchildren’s lives. Whether holding them as babies, hosting weekend sleepovers, attending their games and activities, or joining in on their family vacations, Dennis created countless cherished memories that will live on in their hearts.

Known for his friendly nature, Dennis never met a stranger. He had a firm handshake, a warm smile, and a disarming sense of humor that put everyone at ease. Always optimistic and kind-hearted, he lived with integrity, generosity, and a deep love for his family.

Dennis will be remembered as a devoted husband, a dedicated father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man whose warmth and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will live on through his family and all who were lucky enough to know him.
