David Rubner
Age 77, Passed away May 15, 2021 at Rush Hospital.
David is survived by his wife, Virginia of 51 years; son, Karl (Suzette) Rubner; daughter, Susan (Steven) Bailey; grandchildren, Kyle Rubner, Ryan Bailey and Kathryn Bailey; sister Kathleen (Daniel) Chitty; in-laws, and several nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Agnes Rubner; and sister Marilyn (Louis) Abbott.
David graduated from Milwaukee University High School, St. Joseph’s College and Northern Illinois University. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Belvoir, Va. from 1968-1970. David worked for Commonwealth Edison Company, in Chicago, for the Environmental Affairs Department. After retiring, David enjoyed traveling to spend time with his family, and wintering at his condo in Florida. He enjoyed biking, painting, and was a fan of Wisconsin sports teams, namely the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. He was an avid reader of history subjects, and student of the American Civil War and railroad history. David was a member of the New Lenox Area Historical Society, serving on the board, and is the author of numerous history publications. He is also a member of Peace Lutheran Church of New Lenox.
Funeral services for David will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel at 102 East Francis Road, New Lenox, Illinois, 60451, on Tuesday, May 25th with visitation from 9 am to 11 am, and a service beginning at 11 am. David will be inurned privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in David’s name to Peace Lutheran Church of New Lenox or the New Lenox Area Historical Society.
