Charles W. Commerford Jr.

Charles W. Commerford Jr., passed away at home on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife Gail (nee Baumgartner) Commerford; children, Linda (Dave) Monge, Barbara Commerford, and Chrissy (Joe) Billings; grandchildren, Michael (Samantha) Monge, David (Leah) Monge, Robert (Mallory) Monge, John (Kirsten) Billings, and Jacob Billings; his great-grandchildren, Jackson Billings, Gavin Monge, and Enzo Monge; his sister Tammy Welker; and his lifelong friend Sonny (Linda) Andrews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecelia O’Dea and Charles Commerford Sr.

Charles will be remembered for his love of his Corvettes. He had owned more than 20 over his lifetime. He liked working on them, racing them, and buying and selling them. He was also an avid antiques collector. Most importantly, he loved his family deeply. He said that marrying Gail was the best thing he had ever done. He was incredibly proud of all his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Services for Charles will begin on Sunday, June 25, 2023 with a visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, in Frankfort from 3pm-7pm. Services will continue the following day, Monday, June 26, 2023 with a brief visitation from 9am until the time of the funeral service at 10am. Charles will be laid to rest at Assumption Cemetery in Glenwood, IL.
