Carol Julia (Ziesemer) Giardina
Age 96, a lifelong resident of Lockport, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Joseph S. Giardina; loving mother of Judith A. (Charles) Richardson, Shirley (late Donald) Price, Charlene S. Giardina, and the late J. Larry Giardina; cherished grandmother of Kari Hamilton, Koni (Daniel) Whiteman, Jeff (Nancy) Giardina, Kim (Tom) Roberson, Todd (Maureen) Giardina, Evan (Danielle) Giardina; great-grandmother of Heather (Alan) Baras, Amanda (Keith) Hernandez, Brock Whiteman, Tom, Tyler, and Tim (Kendra) Roberson, Nichole (Jim) Mitchell, Holly Giardina, Ruby Joy and Lily June Giardina; and great-great grandmother of Blake Baras.
She was preceded in death by her biological and adoptive parents and grandson Mark Giardina, and great-granddaughter Maeve Giardina.
Carol owned and operated Carol’s Corner - namesake soda fountain/sandwich store at 18th & State Street. She managed Ben’s Variety and worked at Big Run Golf Course, Ludwig/Reed/Walsh grade schools in Lockport and Argonne National Laboratory in various administrative positions for food services. She was a Sunday school teacher and a self-taught piano and harmonica player.
The family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St., Lockport, IL 60441 on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment Lockport City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, 925 E. 9th Street, Lockport, IL.
