Carmelo Juan Ramirez, age 77, passed away at home with his family by his side on Monday, February 14, 2022.
Carmelo is survived by his cherished daughters, Beatrice (Joseph) Ramirez-Aceto, Alice (Thomas) Sweeney, and Carol (Patrick) Richard; grandchildren, Logan Lee Santana, Madison Breez Richard, and Maci Payton Richard; stepfather Carlos Enrique Vallarin; sister Monserrate Torres-Martinnez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Evangelista Ramirez, and Carmen Martinez Acevedo; and his brother Wilson Ramirez-Martinez.
Carmelo will always be remembered for his sense of humor. He was a jokester that always wanted to make people laugh. Whether that was from him telling jokes or pulling pranks on his family, he was truly the life of the party. Carmelo was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to New York at the age of 16. He worked for the New York Housing Authority for over 25 years before his retirement. He had a deep love for Puerto Rico and always wanted to move back. The thing that brought Carmelo the most joy in his life though, was his beloved family. Especially his three daughters who he was so unbelievably proud of. He loved being a grandpa and any time spent with his grandchildren meant the world to him.
Per Carmelo’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. He will be laid to rest with his family in Puerto Rico at a later date.
