Barbara C. Macek

Barbara C. Macek (nee Glowacki), age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, of 65 years, Stanley J. Macek; children, David (Kristi) Macek, Daniel (Kimberly) Macek, and Connie (Tom) Wilcosky; grandchildren, Christopher (Michelle) Macek, Teage (Dan) Hasselbring, Trevor Macek, Paige Macek, Michael Macek, Cooper Macek, Rachel Macek, Jacob (Jordan) Wilcosky, Bennett Wilcosky, and Alec Wilcosky; and her seven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clemens and Clara Glowacki.
Known affectionately to her family as, “Our Mom”, Grandma Barb, and Gigi. A resident of Orland Park, IL, formally of Frankfort, IL, Crete, IL, South Holland, IL, and Sun Lakes AZ she loved all she knew and was loved by all. A die-hard Cubs fan, she was once found at spring training comparing heart surgery scars with Ron Santo, her favorite Cub. She enjoyed her “Bunco Club” lifelong friends and their times together. Best of all she loved her family and loved to cook. No one ever went hungry when Barbara was in the kitchen. One of her cherished dinners was BBQ ribs with “Grandma Barb’s” sauce. Known to silence ten loud grandchildren in a matter of minutes. She also adored her seven great grandchildren. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Services for Barbara will begin on Thursday, June 30th, 2022, at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 with a visitation being held from 4pm-8pm with a prayer service at 7pm. Services will continue the following day with a visitation at the funeral home from 9:30am-10:30am with a Mass of Christian Burial being held at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church, 7659 W. Sauk Trail, Frankfort, IL at 11am. Barbara will be laid to rest at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Orland Park.
