Arthur C. Martello, age 93, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023, with his family by his side at Marley Oaks Assisted Living Center in Mokena.
Arthur is survived by his beloved wife, Rose (nee Reno) Martello; children, Thomas (Diane) Martello, Arthur (Gail) Martello, Charles (Dorene) Martello, and Suzanne (Tony) D’Ortenzio; grandchildren, Philip (Jackie) Martello, Matthew (Valerie) Martello, Natalie Martello, Celeste Martello, Dominic (Alexandria) Martello, John (Jackie) D’Ortenzio, A.J. (Jenny) D’Ortenzio, Nick Martello, Artie Martello, and Marisa Martello; and his great-grandchildren, Landon Martello and Guilianna Martello.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Mary (nee Frigo) Martello; and his brother Victor Martello, Jr.
Arthur was born in Chicago on May 14th, 1930. He had met and fell for Rose, the love of his life, during their high school years. They were together for 78 years and married for 69 years. Arthur graduated from both the University of Illinois and Loyola University, ultimately achieving his doctorate in dentistry. Arthur was a proud veteran who honorably served as a Captain in the United States Air Force. After his return home from his time in the service, he established a dental practice in Chicago Heights serving his patients for over 40 years. He was also a proud parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Frankfort.
In his spare time, he loved golfing, country line dancing and going to the race track. Above all else, Arthur loved his family deeply. “Doc” Martello will be missed by all that knew him.
Services for Arthur will be Saturday, July 8th, 2023 with visitation at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 7659 W. Sauk Trail, Frankfort from 9:00AM -10:00AM. Immediately following visitation there will be a Mass of Christian Burial. Arthur will be laid to rest at Assumption Cemetery in Glenwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice in Arthurs’ name would be appreciated.
