Warren R. Hauert

April 11, 1936 — March 9, 2023

Warren R. Hauert

Age 86, of Manhattan, IL, died peacefully in his home of natural causes, on March 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 11, 1936, of the late Everett A. and Eleanor (nee Schlater) Hauert of Chicago (Jackson Park) IL.

Upon graduating from Joliet Central High School, he joined the Army, where he served honorably, returning home to start his career as an iron worker and farmer, which remained his passion. He moved to Manhattan, IL, where, in 1959, he married his beloved wife, Mary Ann (nee Taylor), and their union produced six children.

A man of deep curiosity and love of new experiences, Warren’s varied interests included reading, sustainable farming, nature, gardening and animals. Friends and family were amazed at Warren’s intelligence, drive, and energy. Whether constructing a unique building, designing and building his own farm implements, or breeding champion dairy cows, Warren had a never-ending ability to tinker, innovate, and improve.

Above all, Warren was a vibrant and caring soul, who was always willing to lend a hand, or pass along his knowledge in a witty piece of advice or life experience. Full of life, he had the ability to carry a room with funny and enriching stories, never afraid to laugh at himself or play loving practical jokes with his loved ones. Friends and family were deeply enriched by his life and will always cherish his memory and spirit.

Warren is survived by his children, Debi Skolds (Rob), Bob Hauert (Angel), Jim Hauert, all of Manhattan, IL, Mike Hauert of Clermont, FL, and Butch Hauert (Mary) of Saratoga Springs, NY; and his 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Cheryl Hauert-Nugent; and sister, Pat Bettenhausen.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials in Warren’s name can be sent to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.

Cremation rites were accorded, and he will be interred at Providence Ridge Cemetery, Elwood, Jackson Township, IL with his beloved wife and parents.
