Age 63, of Hoopeston formerly of Chicago, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Loving wife of the late Patrick Colvin; beloved daughter of the late August and Lucille (Holy) Alm; dearest mother of Janice Colvin, Joseph (Lindita) Colvin and Julie (Brian) Patton; fond sister of the late Raymond (Mary Ferguson) Alm, late William (Patricia) Alm, Jack (Jeanne) Alm, Barbara (George) Spataro, Mary Christensen, Jo Ann (Robert) Spreyne and James (Pat) Alm; cherished grandmother of Kenneth, Carolyn, Kylie, Nicholas, Riley and Aleksander and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was President of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Hoopeston. Virginia (Ginger) grew up within a large family of brothers and sisters. She was the baby of the family and we always said God saved the best for last. Growing up she was a sweet child, kind and loving. As a teenager, she fell in love with Pat, who she married when she was 18 years old. Her life was devoted to him and their three children, Jan, Joe and Julie. When the grandchildren started arriving, she was a loving and fun granny. After living in Chicago all her life, Ginger and Pat moved to Hoopeston, Il when Pat retired. Ginger loved living in the country, made many friends and always said how caring the folks in Hoopeston were. She loved to bowl, travel with Pat on his Harley to adventurous places she'd never been before. Ginger worked at Meyer Medical as a nurse's assistant and later Vitas hospice as a scheduler. She will always be remembered for her smile, sense of humor, and caring attitude.
Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 9PM. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow to St. Benedict Cemetery, Crestwood.
