Rudi Aust

Rudi Aust (80), surrounded by family, passed away Friday January 13th, 2017 at Franciscan St. James Health in Olympia Fields Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents Karl & Gerda, sister Grenada, & daughter-in-law Terry Aust (nee Zollner). Rudi is survived by his wife Beatrice (nee Caraballo), brother Gunter, sons Richard & Edward, five grandchildren (Amy, Maria, Sarah, Michael, Christopher), and five great-grandchildren (William, Hunter, Halia, Hudson, Ruby).
Born in Germany, Rudi came to the United States when he was 15 years old. He developed an appreciation for cars from his Father Karl, who was an aviation and automobile mechanic. Following his lead, Rudi worked his way into management at Chrysler auto body shop in Oaklawn. Never the underachiever, he later opened his own business, Rudy's Auto Body Shop, also of Oaklawn. In his free time, Rudi had a talent and passion for carpentry. He perfected his craft, making beautiful fixtures, shelves, and even furniture for the family. For ten years, Rudi had his family living on beautiful farm land, in Monee Illinois. He enjoyed caring for his horses, especially his Palomino, Tony. Family was of the upmost importance to Rudi. Over the years, he continually planned trips with his brother Gunter, and his loving family. Even as the children grew and left the nest, Rudi and his brother remained inseparable. Countless family gatherings and trips continued to highlight the bond of this special family. A kind, generous, and humorous man… he was beloved by all, but especially the Children in the family. Loving Husband, wonderful father, loyal brother, favorite Uncle, doting grandfather, fun-loving Great Grandfather …there are countless ways to describe this Man. Rudi's one of a kind wit, and caring personality are unforgettable to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM with a Memorial service beginning at 7:00 PM. Interment private.
