83, of New Lenox passed away Wednesday, July 14,2021. Roy was born in Bloomington, IL to the late Leonard G. and Kathryn (nee Feeney) Gesell. Beloved husband of Joanne (nee Costabile) Gesell; loving father of Glenn Gesell, Michael Gesell, and Janet (Al Luke) Cassettari; cherished grandfather of Dominic Cassettari; dear brother of the late Leonard (late Rita) Gesell, the late Marjorie (late Jack) Gibbons, and the late Mary Hafner; loved uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Roy retired after over 40 years of service in Thornton Township High School District 205 where he taught Industrial Arts and was D.O. Coordinator. Roy was a Fourth Degree Member of and served as Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Dick Allen New Lenox Council 10926 and also served as Faithful Navigator in the Joliet Assembly. Roy helped with the Fish Frys at St. Jude New Lenox and ran Blood Drive events twice a year. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, New Lenox on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 4pm – 8pm. Funeral Service Wednesday, July 21,2021 with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30am to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, IL.
