Rosemary Kobar

November 22, 1945 — November 8, 2022

Rosemary Kobar (nee Dempsey), age 76, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Rosemary is survived by her beloved husband Michael Kobar; daughters, Dawn Conroy, and Amy (Kevin) Bogac; grandchildren, Mitchell Cianci, Justin (Maylyn) Misiora, Madeline Conroy, Owen Howell, Thomas Conroy, Adam (Maria) Bogac; sister, Patricia (late Eugene) Halleran; sister-in-law Mary Lou Dempsey; and her much loved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, God children, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Catherine (nee Murtaugh) Dempsey; siblings, John Dempsey, Virginia (Joseph) Connell, and James (Patricia) Dempsey.

Rose always made herself available to friends and family whenever they needed, was a strong role model for her daughters, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She always knew how to light up a room and put a smile on everyone’s face. Even if that meant covering your face in whipped cream or cake.

Her favorite holiday was always St. Patrick’s when she made her famous corned beef and cabbage. She loved using her diverse artistic abilities to create contest winning Halloween costumes for her girls, nieces, and nephews as an expression of her love towards them.

Rose will also be remembered for being a longtime and beloved business owner of Casablanca Hair Studio in Evergreen Park. A proud supporter of Sisters of Mercy at Saint Xavier University through her business. She was also a long serving volunteer with Girl Scouts of America and Evergreen Park Girls Khoury League. The Little Company of Mary Sisters were also an important part of her life.

A celebration of life for Rosemary will be held after the holidays at St. John Fisher Church in Chicago.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Rose’s name at Crisis Center for South Suburbia: https://www.crisisctr.org/donate-to-ccss/
