Rodger J. Merritt
77, of New Lenox, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Plymouth, MI to the late Russell and Edith (nee Chamberlain) Merritt; Beloved Husband of 57 years of Carol (nee Huddleston); Loving father of Rodger Jr., Cathy Merritt and Janet (Gerald) Merritt-Kosteck; Cherished "Poppie" of Jennifer (James) Manazer, Christine Merritt, Rodger III(Karen) Merritt, Claire Kosteck and the late Jamie Merritt; Dear brother of Russell (Carol) Merritt and the late Wanda (the late Frank) Bracszewski; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Rodger was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for Combat Heroism. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood at a later date.
