ROBERT J. SANFILIPPO

Died: January 2, 2019; in Naperville, IL
Robert J. Sanfilippo, age 72, of Romeoville,
IL, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2019
at Edwards Hospital in Naperville with his
family at his side.
He was born on April 30, 1946 in Joliet, IL. A
graduate of Joliet West High School and Joliet
Junior College. He was a master union
carpenter. Employed by R.H. Hendricksen Co.
and Ron Stonitsch Construction until his
retirement.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50
years, Linda (nee Shepherd); his devoted son,
Joel (Jessica) Sanfilippo of Antioch, IL; his
three cherished grandchildren, Alina,
Benjamin and Cole Sanfilippo. His sister-in-law,
Carolyn (Bobby) Scott; brother-in-law,
Robert D. (Rose) Shepherd; his uncle, Mike
(Mary Ann) Sanfilippo of Bethoud, CO; and
many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father,
Joseph Sanfilippo; his mother, Jane
(Hendricksen) Wozniak; and his step-father,
Kasimer Wozniak; his brother, Wayne
Sanfilippo (2018); and mother-in-law, Norma
Shepherd (2018); uncles, Peter Sanfilippo,
Roy W. (June) Hendricksen; and aunt, Virginia
(George) Pacini.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six
years. He was a member of the Will County
Carpenter's Union Local 174. A member of
Downers Grove Sportsman's Club, Lockport
Golf & Recreation Club, and an officer of IL.
District 11 Little League. He was a devoted
member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in
Lockport where as head trustee he built the
nativity scene which is displayed outside
each year at the church.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 6,
2019, 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Goodale
Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St.,
Lockport, IL 60441. Lying in State, Monday,
January 7, 2019 from 10:00 am until time of
funeral service at 11:00 am at St. Paul's
Lutheran Church, 1500 S. Briggs St., Lockport,
IL 60441. The Rev. Mark Hein officiating.
