Robert Charles Schaefer
82, of Kankakee, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020. Robert was born in Chicago to the late Charles and Ruth (nee Weinacker) Schaefer. Beloved husband of the late Pearl Marie (nee Grieger); loving father of Scott (Kristin) Schaefer and Sherry (Rick) Orseno; cherished grandfather of Heather (Brian) McGrath, Jacob Orseno, and Jeremy Schaefer; dear brother of the late James (Judy) Schafer and the late Lee (Roxanne) Schaefer; loved uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was a carpenter, he worked for American Metal Stitch, and then retired from the Metra Railroad. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and a Purple Heart Recipient. Robert generously donated his body to science. Due to COVID-19 there are no services at this time. A celebration of Robert’s life will be planned at a future date.
