Richard M. Matlosz

November 25, 1943 — August 6, 2014

Richard M. Matlosz of Frankfort, formerly of Calumet City, Age 70, passed away on August 6th 2014 at Hines VA Hospital with his family by his side after a 14 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Beloved husband of 42 years of Cindy (nee Zakrzewski), loving father of Debbie (Mike) O'Connor, Sue (Don) Kawalski, and "special daughter" Sandra Matlosz, proud papa of Allie Marie O'Connor, Sister Barbara (late Felix) Beiner, caring and devoted in-laws Phil and Adrienne Nylen. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mary Matlosz. He served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1965, he was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Lansing Council 3540 and retired from Republic/LTV Steel where he worked for 37 years. Despite his illness his outlook on life was always positive and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 2:00PM until 8:00pm at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort IL 60423. Funeral services, Monday, August 11, 2014 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15AM, leaving for St. Mary Catholic Church, Mokena for a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
