Phyllis Joan Meilner (nee Jenkins)

Age 88, of New Lenox, IL, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving husband and family. Phyllis was born in Chicago, IL to Phillip and Margaret (nee Hudak) Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her father Phillip Jenkins, her mother Margaret Stumpf, stepfather Edward Stumpf, and brother Robert (late Joan) Stumpf. Beloved wife of Edward Meilner; loving mother of Cheryl (William) Cryer Jr, Debra (Mark) Cryer, Cathy (John) Irvin, and Sandra (Earl) Sutton; cherished grandmother of Christina (Robert) McReynolds, Nicholas (Stephanie) Cryer, William (Tammie) Cryer, Brooke (Robert) Evans, Nicole (Craig) McDaniel, Maxwell (Hannah) Stegner, Samantha (Brendan) Schedler, and Alexandra Sutton; proud great grandmother of 11. Phyllis enjoyed camping with her husband Ed of 66 years, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and making memories by taking numerous pictures. She loved soaking up the sun while sipping on the iced tea. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Phyllis’ name to American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, Apex Hospice of Lemont, Lightways Hospice of Joliet, or Phi Beta Psi Sorority (Raising Money for Cancer Research) would be appreciated. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Thursday, 16, 2023, from 9:00am until the time of Funeral Service at 10:30am. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
