Robert F. Scholtes Sr.,
Robert Francis Scholtes Sr., was born in Joliet on April 3, 1935 and entered eternal life on Monday, August 5, 2013 with his loving family by his side after a lingering illness. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Peter and Virginia Scholtes, a sister Peggy (infancy), In-Laws Elvis and Agnes Fugett and a great-granddaughter, Faith Stuart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 year, Betty (nee Fugett) Scholtes, Sons Robert Jr. (Michele) of Joliet, Daniel, Kenneth (Sharon) of Coal City, and Timothy Scholtes. Also survived by nine grandchildren Lynn (Rasoul) Scholtes, Melissa (David) Stuart, Brandon (Linsay) Scholtes, Ziggy Berry, Joseph, Allyson, Zachary, Megan and Matthew Scholtes. Six Great Granddaughters also survive, Lauren and Leah Thomas, Alyah Berry, Hope, Grace and Zoe Stuart. One brother Edward (Donna) Scholtes, Sister In-law Carol (Bob) Weiss and Brother In-Law Ralph (Cheryl) Fugett.
Robert was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, Class of 1953, and worked for Northern Illinois Gas as a welder.
His main passion in life was his family, Chicago Cubs, and the East Joliet Fire Protection District where he dedicated his life to serve the residents for over 32 years. He enjoyed camping and fishing spending summers at the CECO Recreation Club with his family. The family wishes to thank Joliet Hospice for all their care, compassion and assistance. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd., New Lenox, IL 60451 on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 2:00 PM until time of Funeral service at 7:00 PM. Interment private.
