Jerry Lee Mescher

Age 81, lifelong resident of Lockport passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2015, surrounded by his family who adored him. Beloved husband of Dorothy nee Sliwinski; loving father of Lynn Arwood, Susan (Bryan) Sheldon, and Kerry Mescher; cherished grandfather of Julia (Jeffrey) Sheldon, Katelyn Arwood, Michael Sheldon, and Matthew Sheldon; dear brother of Jack (Becky) Mescher; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence H. and Talitha J. Mescher and siblings William (late Shirley) Mescher, Gene (Nancy) Mescher, and Frances (Harold) Young. Jerry was a Korean War Army Veteran and member of St. Mary Nativity Church in Joliet. He loved his backyard garden that he filled with birds and flowers. Jerry was employed at Texaco, Ceco Steel Company in Lemont, LaGrange Memorial Hospital, and most recently delivered for Corwin Pharmacy. Jerry was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St., Lockport, IL 60441 on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 2-7 PM. Funeral service Monday, July 13, 2015 with chapel prayers at 9:30 AM to St. Mary Nativity Church, 706 N. Broadway, Joliet, IL 60435 for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
