Mr. George J. Mormann

George James Mormann, 58, passed away on Tuesday September 29, at his home in Manhattan, Illinois, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 11, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois, George was a graduate of the class of 1975 at Lockport Township High School, and if you didn't know him personally, you undoubtedly heard his '57 Ford roaring through Homer Township and at the US 30 Dragstrip. He went on to study at Denver Automotive and Diesel College, and upon graduating, worked at Fairbanks Morse in Beloit, Wisconsin, and later, at General Motors Electro-motive Division in La Grange, Illinois. In 1980, he joined Paul & Mike's Transmissions in Joliet, certified in tune-ups and brakes, where he later became the shop's most respected service manager for over 30 years, and finally, as the proud owner in 2014. He loved American muscle cars and recently rekindled his interest in motorcycles, fixing up his 1983 Honda CB1000. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Charles and Noreen (Caddy) Mormann, his Godmother Dorothy Walker (Mormann), and his daughter and guardian angel, Bettina Louise. He is survived by the love of his life, Elizabeth Louise Wagner, his cherished children, Kaleena Rose and George Thomas "G.T.", his siblings Maureen Simpson, Jeffrey Sarah (McCarthy), Phil Nancy (Gillogly), Edwin Dorianne of La Mesa, California, his Uncle Harry Walker, cousin Paula Walker, and his sisters-in-law Susan (Wagner) Rasek and Laura Wagner, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will reicieve friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St., Lockport, IL 60441 on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 9:00 AM until time of Memorial service at 11:00 AM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to family, Joliet Hospice, or Cache Creek Animal Rescue, where George adopted his buddy, a pup he named Keoki.
