Donald J. Monchunski, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Helen nee Tomal; loving father of Joseph (Theresa) Monchunski, Vicki (John) Krause, and Donna (Brian) Small; cherished grandfather of Michael, Kyle, Jessica, Bradley, Matthew, and Kristen; dear brother of John (Karen) Monchunski and William (Jane) Monchunski. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Jean Monchunski nee Jasinski, and brothers Joseph (late Kathy) Monchunski and Walter (Laurie) Monchunski. Donald retired from Midas International after 30 years of dedicated service. He also served as a part time Oak Forest Police officer, Oak Forest Park district police officer, and civil defense director. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and avid fisherman. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd., New Lenox, IL 60451 on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 3-9 PM. Funeral service Monday, April 13, 2015 with chapel prayers at 10:00 AM to St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 W. 2nd St., New Lenox, IL 60451 for a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial.
