Mildred (Millie) Dvorak, 85, died peacefully early Tuesday morning, May 8, 2012, at the Hospice House in Joliet, Illinois after suffering a stroke on Wednesday, April 25. Prior to her stroke, she lived independently in Homer Glen, Illinois, surrounded by the love of her family.

Millie was born on February 7, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois to Anna and James Karban. Millie was the oldest of four girls and is survived by her sisters Charlotte (Adam) Pigula, Anita (Lloyd) Amirne and Kathy (Dick) Pleshaw. Married to Donald Dvorak Sr. in 1948, she is survived by two children, Donald (Betsy) Dvorak Jr. and Darlene (David) Hutchens. Millie was the proud grandmother of three grandsons and two great-grandsons: Matthew Hutchens (30) resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Aaron (Cara) Hutchens (29) reside in Tampa, Florida with their two sons Mason (5) and Logan (2); and Christopher Hutchens (22), lives in Columbia, Missouri. Millie was loved dearly and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Millie lived in the Lockport area with her family since 1956. She enjoyed a fulfilling career at Lockport Central High School where she worked for 28 years as an assistant to the Principle and Office Administrator. She loved her job and her interactions with the students and faculty and she always had interesting stories to share.

Visitation will be at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton Street, Lockport on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at Goodale's on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM.
