Mary C. Burnier

Mary Caroline Burnier (Greene) of Frankfort, IL, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 20th, 2023, at the age of 83. After several months of declining health, Mary died peacefully with family members by her side.

Mary was born on July 24th, 1939, in Galeton, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Russell and Dorothy Greene. She grew up in the mountains of Pennsylvania where she began her appreciation and love for nature and the outdoors. Mary graduated from Wellsboro High School in 1957 and moved to Chicago, Illinois to pursue a degree in Nursing.

In 1959 Mary married Francis Burnier of Chicago. Her life’s work was tirelessly caring for Francis and raising their six children. Mary always modeled the godly traits of Grace, Kindness, Respect, Humility, Wisdom and Love to her family and her friends.

Mary had many interests, including bird watching, cooking, sewing, cross country skiing, camping, boating, waterskiing, and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s many sporting events and plays. She took immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren and prayed for them constantly.

Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband Francis, her son Philip Burnier and wife Donna. She is survived by her five children; Timothy A. Burnier (Lorraine) of Sleepy Hollow; David Burnier of Elmhurst; Beth Tomczak (Steve) of Mokena; Robert Burnier (Kayla) of Chicago, Jennifer Burnier (Ken) of Azusa, CA.; ten grandchildren: Nicole Foukal, Timothy R. Burnier (Rachel), Kate Burnier, Elizabeth Burnier, James Burnier, Melinda McCarthy (Jim), Philip Burnier (Kristen), Jake Tomczak, Max Tomczak, and Faith Burnier-Ross; and four great grandchildren, Irene, Rayna, Holden and Anezka.

Interment will be private.
