Martin H. Helwich

Martin “Marty” Helwich
57, of New Lenox passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019 at his home. Marty was born in Chicago to the late Martin and Katharina (nee Walbert) Helwich. Beloved husband of Suzanne “Suzie” (nee O’Connor); loving father of Margaret (fiancé Charley Vail) Helwich, Thomas (Vivian) Helwich, and David Helwich; dear brother of Hildy (Ralph) Elget and Walter (Georgene) Helwich; loved uncle of numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Marty was employed by People's Gas for 35 years, retiring in 2016, and more recently with GSG Consultants. Marty loved to have fun, make people laugh, and was a die hard Cubs fan. He loved his family, loved life, and lived each day to the fullest. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, New Lenox on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 9:00 am until Time of Sharing and Remembrance at 1:00 pm.
