Marie I. Macnutt

June 8, 1914 — February 26, 2012

Marie I. MacNutt, 97, died peacefully on February 26, 2012 at St. James Manor in Crete, Illinois. She was born on June 8, 1914 in Chicago, Illinois and was the only child of Nettie (Neidhardt) and Albert Isherwood. She attended the University of Illinois and was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Marie married John W. Van Tuin (deceased 2005) and lived with their four children in Northbrook, Illinois for many years. In 1974, she married Stearns MacNutt. Marie and Stearns shared many joys of life and the love of boating together in Sarasota, Florida until his death in 1992. They were members of the Sarasota Yacht Club. She is survived by a son, Jon A. Van Tuin of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and a daughter, Susan (Ron) Brauer of Crete, IL. A daughter, Nancy (Fred) Voss (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) and a son, William Van Tuin (Sarasota, FL) preceded her in death. Marie was so very loved by, made special memories with, and was "Honey" to 12 grandchildren: James (Nicki) Naylor of Lees Summit, MO, Elizabeth (Grant deceased) Hartung of Steamboat Springs, CO, Janet (Mike) Rogers of Houston, TX, Jon (Andrea) Van Tuin of New York, Jeffrey Van Tuin of Ponte Vedra Beach FL, Mark Van Tuin of Aventura, FL, Chris Van Tuin of Los Angeles, CA, Carolin (Scott) Kenneally of Crown Point, IN, Dennis (Wendy) Marotta of Mokena, IL, Mark (Lori) Marotta of New Lenox, IL, Wm. Matthew (Julie) Van Tuin of Newberry, FL, L. Christine Hufnus of Palmetto, FL, 25 great grandchildren, and the extended MacNutt family.

The family would like to thank the staffs and the care givers at The Park in Olympia Fields where she resided for 12 years, and more recently, St. James Manor, Crete, IL
