Loretta S. Decampi

Loretta (Nee Baranski) DeCampi passed away peacefully on March 27, 2022. Born on February 18, 1931 in Rockdale, IL. She will always be fondly remembered as “Grandma Dee” to everyone. She is proceeded in death by her husband Joseph, brother Robert; her parents Tony & Jennie, many aunts, uncles, & cousins. She is survived by her loving children Michael (Cynthia) Ceranski, Jennie (Keith) Watkins and Susan (Michael) Litwiller. Dearly loved by her grandchildren Donald (Morgan) Smith, Lena (Taylor) Post, Allison Smith, Kathryn (Matthew) Kasper and Krystal Litwiller as well as her great grandchildren Aiden, Sutton and Carson Smith. She wore many hats over the years. At 20 years old, she moved to Los Angeles. Later an opportunity with the government working for IBM arose requiring her to move to New Jersey and later on to New York City. Returning to help family in Joliet, she became a beautician, making the world more beautiful one head at a time while also working for Joyce Beverage, later retiring after many yrs of service. Her retirement was spent in St.Germain, WI, where she continued working at a bakery and was involved with many organizations. She belonged to St. Mary’s Church, was a member of the Shipmates, Prime Timers, Red Hatter’s, St. Germain Woman’s Club, and the 19th Hole Putters – she loved to golf & golfed with her group every year, right up to the summer before her stroke, pulling her own clubs! She was an organizer and commentator for many fashion shows over the years, beginning with the Holy Cross Catholic Church ladies group, followed by Joliet Catholic High Parents group, and later the St. Germain Woman’s Auxiliary Club. Loretta loved her time in the Northwoods snowmobiling along the beautiful Bo-Boen trail that ran right past her property. Caught and cooked many fish with Joe over the years and her family enjoyed many delicious fresh dinners caught right out back in the lake that the family enjoyed every season for 30 years. A fantastic cook and baker her specialties were apple strudel and Potica. She moved back to the Joliet area in 2019 reuniting with friends and family. She loved to have fun- everyone that knew her knew she wouldn’t miss a party! She loved cards, games, and to travel. She loved her family and they loved her. She will be greatly missed by all. A memorial visitation will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road. New Lenox IL 60451 on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Memorial services on Monday, April 4, 2022 with a visitation from 9:00 AM until prayers in the funeral home chapel at 10:15 AM leaving Holy Cross Catholic Church 901 Elizabeth St. Joliet IL 60435 for a 11:00 AM Memorial Mass. Inurnment will follow to Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, in Joliet.
