Mr. L.V. Cutforth of Homer Glen, IL passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 following his third battle with cancer. Mr. Cutforth was born October 8, 1944, to Merle and Alleen (Hagmeyer) Cutforth of Payson, IL. L.V. is survived by his wife Dr. Nancy (Bohne), who he married on October 27, 1974; his son, Zachary and his wife, Bernadett (Keseru) and sons, Tristan and Roland of CA; his daughter, Joselyn and husband, Michel Daher and children, Lily, Matthew, and Matilda of FL; an older brother, Loyal (Floramae) of IN. Mr. Cutforth's career in education spanned 40 years as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent in Oak Lawn Hometown District 123. He was a member of the Oak Lawn Kiwanis Club for 25 years, serving as President and Lt. Governor. He also taught at Moraine Valley College. He received degrees from Illinois State University, Purdue University, and Northern Illinois University. His interests included farming, gardening, and raising endangered Tunis Sheep. He was an assistant troop leader in the Boy Scouts and attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol based out of Lewis University. In 1996 he was named Parent Volunteer of the year at Lockport H.S., having helped with the Band Boosters and Air Force Jr. ROTC for four years. He enjoyed helping his church's men's group mission to distribute food to the needy. Additionally the Cutforths traveled to over 40 countries. Mr. Cutforth's one regret was that he was unable to see his grandchildren grow up. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be given to the Lorelle V. Cutforth College Scholarship in care of The New Lenox United Methodist Church, 339 West Haven, New Lenox, IL 60451. Family will receive friends at New Lenox United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 2:00PM until time of Funeral Service at 4:00PM. Inurnment will be private.
