Linda S. Sumis (Burris)
Age 66, a resident of Homer Glen, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Dale Sumis; loving mother of Joseph Sumis, Allison Sumis (Ashton Herrington), and Amy Sumis; cherished grandmother “Mimi” of Seth Sumis and Dresden Herrington; dear sister of Donna Tucker, Martha Burris, and Gordon (Stacey) Burris; fond sister-in-law of Diana Sumis; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Peggie Burris (Edwards). Linda was an active member of Parkview Christian Church in Homer Glen and member of the Indiana University Alumni Association. She was a retired special education teacher and CEO of Chicago Consolidators INC. After her retirement, she continued working at the Homer Library. Linda enjoyed camping at Lake Carroll and traveling in her spare time. She was a die-hard Indiana Hoosiers fan. She volunteered for several Girl Scout troops, and belonged to a knitting circle. The family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St., Lockport, IL 60441 on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 1:00 PM until time of Memorial Service at 2:00 PM.
