Laura S. Anderson, nee Bachmann, born February 18, 1918, died comfortably on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Joliet Area Community Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Eugene Burch Anderson; her parents, Ernst and Marie Bachmann; a brother, Paul Bachmann; two sisters, Hulda McGuire and Emma Engimann.

She is survived by her three children, Elizabeth "Betty" Troutman (Jim) of Frankfort; Dean Anderson of rural Lockport; Ralph Anderson (Laurie) of New Lenox; four grandchildren, Brent Troutman (Jennifer) of Orland Park, Bruce Troutman (Kristin) of Flossmoor, Jacob Anderson of New Lenox, and Candace Anderson of Portland, Oregon; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Benjamin Troutman of Flossmoor. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

In earlier life Laura was a member of several organizations, including Marley Woman's Club and Homer Grade School PTO. She continued to be a member of the Will County Farm Bureau; the Maple Street Arbor of Gleaners; and the Homer Congregational Church, to which she belonged for over sixty years.

For many years Laura served as a Homer Township election judge. She worked for Flailor's Bakery in Joliet for over twenty years until she retired at the age of seventy-five.

Laura always liked to be on the go. The highlight of her travels was a trip to her parents' native Switzerland.

The family would like to express great appreciation to Laura's compassionate caregivers on the sixth floor at Silver Cross Hospital and to those at Joliet Area Community Hospice. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Corinne Nawrocki, Laura's caring doctor for many years.

Family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton Street, Lockport, IL 60441 on Friday, October 3, 2014 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Frank Volpe will officiate at the funeral service; Pastor Lawrence Pote will provide the eulogy. Interment, Barnett Cemetery, Lockport, IL. Memorials may be made to the Homer Congregational Church and to the Joliet Area Community Hospice.
