Laura R. Akers (nee Dudek), age 83, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on May 18, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Akers, Sr. Loving mother of Laura (Bill) Voss, Helen Heise, and Thomas J. Akers, Jr. Cherished grandmother of Diane Alberson, Brian Stultz, Lenny and Beth Heise, Tiffany Haddock, Joe, Rebecca, Tommy III, and Jonathan Akers. Loving Great Grandmother of Hannah, Dean, Nolan and Colin. Loved by all who knew her, she is survived by her 3 sisters, Helen Tomsic, Emily Kron and Anne Slota. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Catholic Church of New Lenox or a charity of your choice is appreciated. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 3:00PM - 8:00PM. Funeral service Wednesday, May 21, 2014 with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30AM and then to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip.
