Lana Rose Fisher

November 8, 1941 — January 5, 2021

Lana Rose Fisher

79, of New Lenox, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on January 5, 2021.

Lana loved spending time with her family. She was born in the Back of the Yards to Chester and Mary-Ann. She danced many polkas with her mother, Mary-Ann. We have many memories of dancing, swimming, barbecuing, as well as playing board games, cards, and dice with her brothers Wayne (Barb), Dennis (Carol), and her sister Debbie.

Lana was an extremely proud mother to Cheri and grandmother to Austin and Skye. She would laud them every time she had the opportunity to almost anyone who would listen. As their biggest cheerleader, she was always in the front row of musicals, plays, and sports events with fresh ziplocked strawberries in her purse ready to hand out.

Lana was loved by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. You’d always catch her feeding them and making them laugh. She was a kind neighbor, and a dear, loyal friend to those who knew her. She was known for her outgoing nature, sense of humor, contagious laugh, generosity, and infinite kindness.

Lana was a very active member of Community Life Church, Eagle Rock Community Church, and Firehouse Chapel, as well as being a long-time member of Bible Study. She spread the word of Jesus through her words and actions to everyone she met. She was a mentor to many.

Lana had a great love of gardening and feeding birds. She could often be seen tending to her garden or filling the feeders and baths for the local birds. She loved parakeets, including her dear Ziggy. She taught him several cute phrases such as “Crazy bird, gimme a kiss,” and “Dummy dummy.” Lana was also known for her love of wind-chimes and decorative pigs, which she had meticulously organized throughout her home. She had a strong love for Star Trek and was thrilled the day she met a Ferengi in Las Vegas! Her DVR was filled to capacity with Home and Garden TV, and old sitcoms.

Two of Lana’s favorite jobs were being a cashier at Clover Club Warehouse on Archer Ave and the other at Kentucky Fried Chicken where she proudly met the KFC Colonel. One day while slinging chicken and mashed potatoes, Lana met her true love Jack. They married soon after and lived happily together for 35 years. They enjoyed traveling to Arizona, taking road trips, and gazing at the stars. Lana was the Olive Oyl to Jack’s Popeye, and they are reunited now in heaven for eternity.
