Kenneth Dwight Potts Sr. age 77 of Smithfield Ky passed away Thursday February 8th 2018. Kenneth was a United States Army Green Beret veteran who honorably served in Vietnam. Originally from Illinois, Kenneth was an entrepreneur who owned and operated his own drapery business. With his creative vision, he was always looking to make things more beautiful than he had found them. He most recently worked for Terminix in Louisville for 15 years. He reliably and faithfully served his customers who often became friends. He was the son of the late Albert Andrew Potts and Claribel Irene (Paxton) Potts. Father to 7 children, "adopted" father to many more than his own, and he embraced them all in his heart with love. They all still know and reference him with love as "Dad".
Kenneth was survived by his wife, Sherry Potts of Smithfield; five daughters, Kimberly Lakawitch (Steve) of Frankfort, IL, Kathie Flynn (Kevin) of Plainfield, IL, Karyla Klimkiewicz (Gary) of Homer Glen, IL, Krystalynn Frohnapple (Paul) of Dyer, IN and Kendra Potts of Smithfield, KY; two sons, Kenneth Dwight Potts, Jr. (Lisa) of Rolling Meadows, IL and Kevin Andrew Potts of Oak Lawn, IL; a sister, Janis "Linda" Bultema (Ken) Hebron, IN; a brother, Wesley Potts (Faye) of Munster, IN and eleven grandchildren, Brecken, Brady, Brenna, Stephanie, Kevin, Kristopher, Cheyenne, Taylor, Caleb, Clara and Brycen
Illinois memorial service will be 6 PM Thursday, February 15, 2018 with visitation from 2 PM until service time at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423.
Local memorial visitation will be 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr.
