KAY O. JOHNSON
(OLSON)
Age 76 of Frankfort, Illinois passed away on April 23, 2022 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home in Joliet surrounded by her family.
Kay was born April 9, 1946 in Grafton, North Dakota to parents Kasper and Verna Olson. Kay attended high school in Edinburgh, North Dakota and was part of a graduating class of 21 students. She also graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Fargo, North Dakota in 1967. Kay was very proud of her North Dakota heritage.
While at college, Kay met and fell in love with her husband of 54 years, David Johnson. They married in North Dakota on June 6, 1967.
Kay moved to Illinois with her husband David in 1969. She worked as a nurse while raising her three children. Later, she received a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from St. Francis University. Kay went on to open he own business, Johnson Home Health Care and worked side by side with her husband at Johnson Drugs in Homewood, Illinois.
Kay was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in New Lenox. She was a member of the bell choir, lady’s ensemble, Bible Study and Ruth Circle Quilting group.
Kay’s passion was quilting. She was part of several local quilting clubs and created many beautiful quilts that she enjoyed displaying and sharing with friends and family.
Kay had many wonderful friendships; she loved going for pizza with her longtime group of friends. Kay and Dave also traveled all over the world with friends and family.
Kay is survived by her husband Dave, three children, Julie (Brian), Bryan, Ben (Lecia) along with her sister Mary (Bill) and brother Ken (Delores). She has four grandchildren: Sydney (Zach), Carter, Kai and Paige.
Family will receive friends at Peace Lutheran Church, 1900 E. Lincoln Highway, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM. Interment will be private.
