Kathleen E. Gordon (nee Brown)

Age 83, of New Lenox, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, Illinois, after a brief illness.

Kathy was born in Joliet, Illinois, to the late Kenneth and Edna (nee Bettenhausen) Brown. She graduated from Joliet Central High School and later attended Joliet Junior College.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years Edwin E. Gordon and children Elaine (the late Dale) West, Edwin Jr (Jelyn) Gordon, JoAnn (Milton) George, Thomas (Marilyn) Gordon, William (Amy) Gordon, John (Kim) Gordon, Michael Gordon, and Doug Gordon. Kathy was a cherished grandmother of numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of which she adored; She was also a dear sister of nine and loved aunt of many.

Kathleen was preceded in death by grandchildren Rebecca Gordon, Kenneth Gordon, and great-grandchild Payton Burke.

Kathleen was a hard-worker and took on admirable jobs as a caregiver of others. She prided herself on being a member of New Lenox ESDA. She also worked as an Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B) for Kurtz at East Joliet Fire Protection District and as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Frankfort Terrace in Frankfort, IL, and Embassy Care in Wilmington, IL.

In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed baking, crocheting, sewing, and doing crossword puzzles. She loved cheering on the Chicago Bears and was a big fan of NASCAR’s Jeff Gordon. She adored spending time with her grandbabies and great grandbabies. Kathy was truly a tough woman and a fighter, even up until illness took her.

Kathy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd. New Lenox, IL on Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 11:00 am until time of Memorial Service at 12:00pm.
