Karen M. Barnickel (nee Erskine) 71, of New Lenox, passed away May 9, 2020 in Arizona. Karen was born in Harvey, IL to the late Richard Gordon and Helen (nee Stover) Erskine. Beloved wife of the late Leonard A. Barnickel; loving mother of Dennis (Chris) Barnickel, Cindi (Adam) Schouten, and Jennifer Barnickel; cherished grandmother of Lukas Cole, Lacey Barnickel, Tyler Schouten, Serena Barnickel, and Ryan Schouten; dear sister of John (Nancy) Erskine and her twin sister, the late Sharon Beatty; loved aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Karen was a school bus driver for New Lenox School District 122 for over 30 years. She was a member, and past President, of the New Lenox American Legion Post 1977 Ladies Auxiliary and was also former cheerleading director of the New Lenox Mustangs. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 4pm until the time of memorial service at 7pm. Private interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Social distancing and wearing masks is MANDATORY for all in attendance.
