Jonathan Joiner

Jonathan Daniel Miller Joiner, born December 20, 1990, died suddenly on August 6, 2022, at the young age of 31.
Jon is survived by his parents John and Ellen (nee Miller) Joiner, sisters Krista (Jim) Carlson and Kimberly (Brett) Barnes, nephew Jimmy Carlson, nieces Sammi Carlson and Blake Barnes, and host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many many friends.
If you knew Jon, you loved Jon. He was best known for his quick wit (always making everyone laugh), his sharp tongue (sometimes getting him in trouble), and his obsession with all sports (especially the Chicago White Sox). Jon loved being in the spotlight. He was known as Jon “I Don’t Need A Rap Name” Joiner when he would perform during freestyle rap battles. You could find him at any music festivals, dancing freely (sometimes in a skirt with pockets), radiating positive energy.
Jon was a free spirit and would be up for anything. If it was fun, you could count on him being involved. Unfortunately, this outlook led to him experimenting with drugs. While those around him were able to experiment and carry on, drugs ended up controlling Jon. He spent every moment battling addiction but, in the end, he lost his battle.
Services for Jon will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022, with a visitation from 1pm until time of the memorial service at 5pm. Jon was also a Type 1 Diabetic, and for this reason, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in Jon’s name to be made out to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (https://www.jdrf.org/).
