John M. Hennessy

August 3, 1961 — September 13, 2020

John Martin Hennessy
59, of Joliet, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family. John was born in Chicago to Margaret (nee Mullarkey) and the late Martin Hennessy. Beloved husband of Diana (nee Rizzo), loving father of Sean, Bryan, Brendon, and Mckenzie; dear brother of Mary (Tom) Ryan, Eileen (John) Kowalski, Kathy (Phil) Ryan, and Noreen (Paul) Gaughan; loved uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. John was employed at Stericycle for 18 years.

John aka "Hen" genuinely touched the lives of so many people in equal measure with his engaging Irish smile and devilish eyes, razor-sharp wit, and his exuberant passion for life. He was a diehard lifelong Cubs fan, realizing his dream when they won the 2016 World Series. You could almost hear him cheering wildly on the final day of his life when the Cubs threw a no-hitter. Go Cubs!

He loved the game of golf and vacationing at his favorite place, Kelly Lake, WI. But, above all else, his unparallelled joy was coaching his boys in baseball and then watching his four children grow to be good human beings; they are his proud legacy. Words cannot accurately capture his love for his beloved Diana who cared for him with such compassion and grace the last months of his life.

John/Hen will be sorely missed by all who loved him, but we will carry him in our hearts forever.
