“Joe”

Age 72, of Mokena, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox, IL. Joe was born in Allentown, PA to the late George and Helen (nee Reph) Terrell. Beloved husband of Susan Clement; loving father of Lesley Stratton, Joel (Debbie) Terrell, Tami (Dean) Theriault, and Lisa (Allen) Kannapell; cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Mary, and Jonathan Kannapell, and Amber and Tyler Theriault; dear brother of Linda Terrell and the late Jimmy Terrell. Joe was a proud and honored U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran. He then went on to be an accountant, hotel owner and the owner of two successful Denny’s restaurants in Mokena and Joliet. He was a board member of Denny’s franchise association for many years and loved participating in his community and St. John’s Church. He was an avid hobbyist throughout his life: weightlifting and bodybuilding, authoring a book on where to find gold in the Mid-West, performing magic and card tricks, public speaking, astronomy and star gazing, and most recently collecting and selling coins. The family will receive friends at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Mokena on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, from 10:00am until time of the Funeral Service at 11:00am. Interment to follow with full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
