On Saturday, October 13, 2018, Joan L. Clark, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend went to be with the Lord at the age of 83.

Joan was born, October 19, 1934 in Chicago, IL to John and Marnella (Scalise) Overholt. She received her degree in drama from Mundelein College in 1955. Anyone who knew Joan realized that she would be well suited for the theatre.

Following graduation, Joan went out to California to pursue acting. She quickly realized she was better suited to the Midwest and returned to Chicago. Back in Chicago, she taught kindergarten, worked in sales and recruiting and was a jack of all trades.

Joan was also a good athlete. Shortly after returning to Chicago area, she could be found on Paw Paw Lake in Michigan where she was part of the Chicagoland Water ski association, a group renowned for putting on waterski shows.

Joan brought passion and energy to everything she did. She truly enjoyed life and she wanted to experience all that it had to offer. Her passions were reading, attending the theater and travelling the world. Joan loved to spend her summers sunning in Michigan and her winters sunning in Acapulco (Yes, she loved the sun).

Joan loved all kinds of music. Her flamboyance could not be contained (lip sinking and dancing) when Barbara Streisand and Frank Sinatra were playing in the room.

Joan’s greatest gift was that she made sure that her family knew that they were loved. She was steadfast in her support no matter what the situation. She came to faith in Jesus later in life, but she brought her same vigor and exuberance to sharing her new faith to those in which she came in contact.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, William (Willy, Papa Bill) Clark. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Piscia (Lauzon); Son-in-law Rob Piscia;, grandchildren John, Joe and Angela; extended family; and friends whom she loved.

Please join us to celebrate Joan’s life with a visitation and service at Parkview Christian Church, 11100 Orland Parkway, Orland Park, IL 60467, on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Family will recieve friends from 9:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 11:30 AM . Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimers Association would be appreciated.
