Joan E. Frodin-Plestina

Age 88, of Orland Park formerly of Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.

Joan is survived by her loving family; children Sharon (Bruce) Clement, Lon (Maureen) Plestina and Dawn Plestina; Sister Karen Fioramonti; 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband Donald Plestina; parents Verner and Elin (Hedquist) Frodin; brother Richard Frodin and brother-in-law Gene Fioramonti.

Joan worked in the office at the Wrisley Company, and later enrolled in college to become a teacher in the mid-1960’s. She graduated at the top of her class of over 1000 students. In addition to raising a family, Joan taught middle school math before becoming a cost accountant at Borg Warner. During these years, Joan also worked as the bookkeeper for her husband, Don’s tile company. After retirement she continued her love of reading and volunteered for the Frankfort Library. Her volunteer work also included becoming treasurer at her Unitarian-Universalist Church and President of the Smith Crossing resident association. While living at Smith Crossing, she enjoyed playing Bridge and Pinochle.

A memorial visitation will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM with a memorial service at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Unitarian-Universalist Community Church in Park Forest would be appreciated.
