Isabell "Izzy" Malkusak

May 20, 1936 — July 12, 2020

Isabell “Izzy” Malkusak (nee Dallesandro)
1936 - 2020
Isabell Esther Malkusak passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 12, 2020, while surrounded by her family in her own home.
Born May 20, 1936, in Chicago, IL, Isabell was the 2nd of 5 daughters born to Antonio and Yolanda Dallesandro. She is survived by her ever-loving husband Edwin, daughter Mary (Bill-ex) Van Pelt, sons, Antonio “Tony” (Diane) Malkusak, Michael “Mike” (Lynn) Malkusak, and Edward “Eddie” (Michelle) Malkusak, and her 4 “sissies”, Marie (late Dick) Fails, Joan (Mike) Cap, Dianna (late Rich) Rosko, and Teresa (Dan) Stinnett, along with 11 beloved grandchildren, and 2 cherished great grandson.
Izzy was a proud member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish in Frankfort, IL, which she attended multiple times every week and participated in Eucharistic Adoration and a regular prayer group.
While her Roman Catholic religion was a pillar of her life, the love of her family, friends, and pets brought her life true joy, memoires, and laughter. Izzy’s radiant smile would burst into jubilant laughter in almost every conversation and would bring cheer to those around her. From her marathon fits of laughter while talking on the phone with her sissies to her recounting stories of her youth and marriage or spending time with her grandchildren. All of these things brought out the best in Isabell; her spirit and her happiness.
Cooking and baking was the way Isabell shared her love and showed her appreciation. Known for her pizzas, cookies, and Italian roast beef; you could expect any of these as a sign of thanks. She also enjoyed walking (in fact she was still in better physical shape than all of her grandchildren throughout most of her elder years), all animals (except snakes), politics, cleaning the floor on her hands and knees, singing, and dancing. If her life was a song, it would be an old standard that would compel you to sing and dance along.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and for the safety of all involved, services will be held privately. A celebration of Isabell’s life will be held at a later date - all will be welcome at that time. Family and friends are invited to take part in the interment which will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Frankfort at approximately 12:00pm. However, masks/PPE and social distancing will be required. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Isabell’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), PAWS Chicago (www.pawschicago.org), or the Anti-Cruelty Society (for animals, www.anticruelty.org) would be appreciated.
