Howard “Howie” F. Simon
70, a 40-year resident of Manhattan, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Howard was born and raised in Blue Island, IL to the late Frank and Frances (nee Baumbach) Simon. Beloved husband of Jean (nee Junker); loving father of Pamela (Nicholas) LaPorte, Kenneth (Lina) Simon, and Kimberly Simon; cherished grandfather of Aubrie and Aiden LaPorte, and Emilia Simon; dear brother of Karen Simon, the late Patricia (Greg) Cole, and Joyce Schulte; loved uncle of numerous nieces and nephews; also survived by his dear uncle and aunt Ray and Pearl Simon; dear brother-in-law of Joan (Danny) Nutting. Howard was a retired tool and die maker with Ford Motor Company at the Chicago Heights Stamping Plant for 36 years. He was a proud member of Palos Sportsman’s Club as an avid trap shooter and dove hunter. He also loved sharing his engraving talents. He dearly loved all of his friends. He will be missed by his family and lifelong friends always. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, New Lenox on Monday, February 22, 2021 from 3pm - 8pm. Funeral Services Tuesday, February 23, 2021 with prayers at the funeral home at 09:30am to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Interment St. John Cemetery, Mokena, IL. Social distancing and masks are MANDATORY for ALL in attendance. No food allowed in the funeral home.
