Age 82, of Mokena, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Lightways Hospice, Joliet, IL. Heinz was born in Tauroggen, Lithuania to the late Walter and Emma (nee Kuschmann) Barkowski. He spent most of his childhood in Germany, before coming to the United States. Beloved husband of Dona (nee Thomas) Barkowski; loving stepfather of Jesse Pash (05-19-2021); cherished grandfather of Jesse Jr (Megan) Pash; proud great-grandfather of Chloe Pash; dear brother of Hilda (late Hans) Neubeck; loved uncle of Hans Neubeck and Mark Neubeck; great-uncle of Hunter, Logan, and Gavin Neubeck; fond brother-in-law of Theodore (Doe) Thomas. Heinz was a self-employed mechanic. He and his brother-in-law Hans were co-owners of Hans and Heinz Foreign Auto Repair in Riverdale, IL. Heinz was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed going to car shows with his ‘67 Nova. Private family services and inurnment with full military honors were held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
