Gloria E. Morgan
(Reiter) Weeks-Demmer

Gloria E. Morgan, born on December 11, 1935, was the youngest daughter to Ralph and Florence (nee Olson) Reiter in Homer Township. In her youth, she was fondly known to her classmates at Glo-Worm and later in life as the "mail-lady" to many, but affectionately to a blessed few as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Gloria grew up in Homer Township when the roads were gravel and farm land was plentiful. She shared that wonderful and hard working experience with her siblings – Ralph A. Reiter (deceased), Adella Fleck of Greenfield, WI; Arlene (Richard) Connell of Sun City Center, FL; Joyce Macon of Lockport, IL; and her twin brother, Glenn "Doc" Reiter (deceased).

A graduate of Lockport Township High School, she married her high school sweetheart, James H. Weeks, Jr. in 1954. Four children were born through this union – Denise Hiller of Crest Hill, IL; Deborah Szlak of Downers Grove, IL; Mike (Sonya) Weeks of Lowell, IN; and James H. Weeks III (deceased). Husband, James Jr. passed away in February 1964.

She later met and married a wonderful man, Phil Demmer who cared for her children as his own and of this union came along children – Phyllis (Charles) Winters of Cape Coral, FL and Phillip (Linda) Demmer of Holstein, IA. Husband, Phil, passed away in December 1975.

Then, by chance and fate, she met the most extraordinary man who became an instant father and grandfather and did so with such zest. Ronald G. Morgan, her husband of 36 years was a great partner. He cared for and loved Gloria with such sweet passion. They resided in Diamond, IL.

Gloria is also survived by her loving grandchildren – Chuck (Tiffany) Juricic of Wilmington, IL; Brian Juricic of Custer Park, IL; Star (Chris) Franzen of Wilmington, IL; Stephen Hiller, Jr. of Crest Hill, IL; Greg Szlak Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ; Emily (Jason Poss) of Brookfield, IL; Denita Weeks of Memphis, TN; Patricia Weeks of Lowell, IN; Sommer (Brandon) Kopenhaver; Amber and Cody Weeks of Houston, TX; Desiree (Dennis) Perry, Phillip Winters, and Charley Winters of Cape Coral, FL; Heather Winters of Charlotte, NC; and Jakob Demmer of Holstein, IA. In addition, Gloria had 19 great grandchildren plus many loving nieces and nephews who could always count on Aunt Gloria for a few laughs.

Gloria started out as a homemaker, but with the events of her life led her to work at the Joliet Army Corp and eventually to the Lockport/Romeoville Post Office from which she retired in 2001.

She will be missed by many. When times may have been tough for her, she opened her home and heart to others who seemed to need her too. She loved a good game of euchre, a challenging game of pool, and the opportunity to show her uncanny skill at playing a mean game of Scrabble. Scrabble is a game she rarely lost – and winning a game gave you bragging rights.

So, we say goodbye to an extra ordinary woman who endured many heart breaks and losing loved ones. She showed her family how to be tough, put a smile on your face and pull up your boot straps and keep going. God has an angel and we have someone who will continue to watch over us and guide us. Till we meet again. We love you,
